Visit
We welcome you to “the Herb Garden” web site. We hope that you will find it interesting and informative, and will prompt you to plan a visit this summer. We are easy to find – located at the corner of Old Almonte Road and Upper Dwyer Hill Road in the west end of Ottawa.
Our facilities are charming and unique, and ideal for an array of events. The Gourmet Gift Shop and the Bergamot Barn Art Gallery were originally animal barns built in the 1860′s. They have been lovingly restored. The shop is filled with the most extensive variety of gourmet foods in the Ottawa area. Again this season, we have found a unique collection of planters in all shapes and sizes. Each month in the Bergamot Barn, a different artist will hang their work. The sandblasted cedar walls make an interesting background for all types of distinctly Canadian art.
The Century Barn is our pride and joy. It was the first barn to be built, and established the property as a working farm in the mid-1820′s. It is the perfect backdrop for many local events, as the picturesque space offers a glimpse into Ottawa’s heritage. The hay mow has been renovated with the addition of pine flooring to create a captivating space for meetings, dances, music events, weddings and more.
The labyrinth and our display gardens are beautiful, peaceful places to wander and relax. With plentiful amounts of beautiful herbs and nature, the labyrinth and display gardens are a colourful and serene setting for wedding and event pictures.
Special events this year include our Mother’s Day Buffet Brunch, Lanark County Interval House Fundraiser, Thai Buffet Dinner, 100 Mile Meal Buffet Dinner, Company of Fools Comedy Shakespeare Troupe and, of course, Herbfest. Details of these events can be found by clicking on the event.
“the Herb Garden” will be closing early this year. We are off to Italy and Holland to follow the wartime journey of the 48th Highlanders of Canada. Our closing day will be Sunday September 18th, 2011.
